Broadway In Detroit joins Achatz Handmade Pie Company to bring local flavor to WAITRESS The Musical May 7-19 at the Fisher Theatre

Broadway In Detroit has partnered with Achatz Handmade Pie Company to bake and sell mini-pies at the Fisher Theatre concessions stands during the Detroit engagement of WAITRESS, May 7-19. Guests attending the show will be able to purchase two of Achatz’ most popular flavors; Michigan Dutch Apple and Michigan Four Berry pies in a souvenir WAITRESS 3oz Mason Jar. The unique and delicious pie jars will be sold with a disposable spoon making them consumable at the theatre, or taken home to enjoy after the performance.

Having souvenir WAITRESS pies available for sale at the theatre is a practice that began during the shows initial performances on Broadway. As part of the production, the show approached Stacy Donnelly, owner of Cute as Cake bakery to join the WAITRESS team and bring the diner pie experience off the stage and into the theatre. Since then Donnelly’s small army of bakers has been delivering more than 1400 pies per week to the Nederlander Theatre. When the show hit the road, the concept went along for the ride bringing delicious pies to audiences around the country.

In each market, local theatres have the opportunity to order the show’s original pies from New York, or partner with local bakeries to create similar Mason Jar pies for sale at the venue.  After receiving handmade Achatz pies every year from corporate partners and friends, the Broadway In Detroit staff reached out to Achatz to bring the Waitress pie phenomenon to a local audience with great local flavors.

Starting May 7, Detroiters will be able to experience the show that Entertainment Weekly calls “a little slice of heaven,” and take home a delicious, locally made, WAITRESS souvenir pie when they attend WAITRESS at the Fisher Theatre.

WAITRESS Achatz Mason Jar Pies will sell for $7 each or two for $12 at the Fisher Theatre Concession Stands May 7-19. Tickets start at $39 and are available now for all performances at
